MATHmania Robotics Engineering Internship
Needed: 1-4 high school students this summer to design and build robot models for learning modules, and to photograph and document them so that kids can reproduce them
MATHmania Robotics is a non-profit company that brings robotics and engineering to school-aged children. In order to include our younger kids (kindergarten through third grade), we are in need of more teaching designs. For example, we need a chassis with a quickly removable wheelset. We want the kids to be able to experiment with different gear ratios in a matter of minutes instead of rebuilding the whole robot. "What makes the robot go faster?" "How can you change the gear ratio to give the robot more torque so that it can win a tug of war?" The new design will allow students to change the gear ratio within 15 minutes so that they can try a variety of options, learning by actually seeing the changes.
This unpaid internship could be a great addition to your college resume. I am very flexible with the schedule. I need a commitment of 6 hours. If you are successful, you can add additional hours and keep on designing for any of our many teaching modules. By the end of the summer, you could have a serious engineering notebook with multiple designs.
