The VEX Robotics World Championships are in Anaheim in April!
Our winter season is getting started now and will run through the world championships. We will be attending, at least to watch, so save the dates. April 23-26. The IQ competitions are so new that there is little competition in our area (and a bigger possibility of doing well and getting invited to the state championship this year). Anyone who would like to be on the winter team needs to let me know now. I'm hoping for a team of 12. We have registered one team for: Saturday, January 18 in Hesperia (a 2 hour drive). Again Saturday, February 22 in Hesperia. Both of these events are from 9am to 5pm. Team members: $135 for winter season (or $115 if you already have a t-shirt). We will have 6 hours of lab time on Saturdays, 9-11. (or if we can find a weekday time that would work, I'm up for that.) Those 6 hours usually grow into many more hours, but you can count on at least six hours building time. We need you on the team! Your friends are welcome too. They start by taking an Intro to Robotics class, then it's on to the competitions! When are the best building days? Are Saturdays best, 9-11am? or a Tuesday after school, 3:30-5:30 or 4-6?

We have been invited to a robotics competition!
Hankey Elementary (which we met at the Irvine demo day) has invited us to their robotics scrimmage. I signed us up. Please let me know if you would like to be included on the team roster. Anyone who has been working on robotics with me over the last few months...you are invited to compete with the team at Hankey Elementary School in Mission Viejo, Friday, January 10 from 3:30-8:00pm. This is an IQ scrimmage (not the Mar-10 robot) against other middle schools in the area. We can do this event for $5 each, no lunch. Will your child be attending? yes or no Are you available to drive? how many passengers? Can you work on building the robot next Saturday, January 4, 9-11am and again Saturday January 11, 9-11am? I also have open lab times at the RSM Beach Club January 2 and 3 from 9am to noon. (I am teaching an intro class but if a couple of you want to use the time to work on the robot, that would be great.) This will close out the fall season. It's been a lot of fun!! If you have any friends who would like to join us next season, let them know they start by taking an Intro to Robotics class. I have classes right now at the RSM Beach Club. Team RoboHobos has 3 tournaments coming up:
January 10 at Hankey Elementary in Mission Viejo, 3:30-8:00pm January 18 in Hesperia, 9am - 5pm February 22 in Hesperia, 9am - 5pm |
