Quick tip for python or javascript, etc. I need to comment out a whole section. What do I do (faster than putting # or // at the beginning of every line)? Highlight the block of code. Ctrl - / (or mac command - /) Love finding this shortcuts! This one is similar to indenting or un-indenting a block of code. Ctrl - tab via MATHmania Robotics https://ift.tt/1KR8MJg

Happy New Year 2020! I am joining the #100DaysOfCode Challenge. Anyone want to join in? It doesn't matter your level. Just code every day and post here. (Or you can look up the official rules, but we are just informally running the challenge here.) You can work on any projects you want or you can work through a course, like code.org Accelerated Course or Khan Academy Intro to JavaScript or get started with Python. But work every day on some code. We should probably do this again in the summer! We'll see how it goes. via MATHmania Robotics https://ift.tt/1KR8MJg

Registration is not open yet, but Coolest Projects is returning to the Discovery Cube OC on March 7, 2020. Registration will be available soon at coolestprojects.org and you can visit the website now to get info on what types of projects they accept. Go ahead and get started on your project. If you register, please let me know. We love to hear about amazing projects kids are doing. If you would like some help with a project, we will be starting our MATHmania Robotics Coding Team soon. The suggested donation will be $60/yr or $25/3 months but we don't want any kids to not come because of lack of funds. It will be a work space more than a class. The goal is to build our coding portfolios and add a few collaborative projects to our resumes. We will have a list of projects for kids to start with but this is a time to explore and build your own dreams. You can come as often as you like and not come when you don't have the time. We won't have all the answers but the great thing about a team is someone usually has a great idea to get us moving in the right direction. We will start meeting weekly at my home, 63 Windswept Way in Mission Viejo, but we could move to a library or another home if everyone agrees. Let me know if you are interested. Then we will decide if we want to meet Mondays for an hour after 4pm or Saturdays after 4pm. For next week, I am planning Monday 4-5pm and Saturday 7-8pm. You are welcome to come, see if you like it. PLEASE don't just show up. Reserve a spot so I know you are coming. via MATHmania Robotics https://ift.tt/1KR8MJg

Anyone interested in seeing the International Space Station as it flies by? Great viewing opportunity tomorrow night Wed Sep 18, 8:04 PM It will be visible for 5 min It will appear at 88° above SW and disappear at 30° above NE. (Which means look straight up looking southwest and it will travel across the sky towards northwest for 5 minutes.) It looks like a bright star moving (but a plane blinks, ISS is solid bright white light) via MATHmania Robotics https://ift.tt/1KR8MJg

Watch these kids and robots go from "What the heck do I do with this?" to "I'm so amazing! Look what I just did!"

Did she just program that robot to drive by itself and shoot baskets??
