We work on
Our goal is to prime the pump and get kids thinking and developing their own projects and apps.
Everyone works along at their own pace, but then we join together for group projects. You can always ask for help, and we love your input into our fun projects. Full details on how to get started here.
If you are more interested in learning on your own, here are some great sites to get started. And you can always ask us for help.
Code.org A great place to get started, this website uses MIT's scratch programming. Kids (and adults) program the Angry Birds and the Plants and Zombies to work their way through mazes. Additional levels introduce drawing, conditionals and functions. Work 10 minutes or 2 hours; your work is saved for you the next time you come back.
Khan Academy Intro to JavaScript Here you start immediately writing code in Javascript. You will draw shapes, combine them into pictures, then move on to animations and functions. Simple enough for elementary school kids to give it a try, but as students progress, it will offer plenty of challenge to high school kids and adults. The best part is that it is wide open for creative coders to go beyond the simple task at hand and show off their artistry!
KhanAcademy.org/coaches (Add me as your coach with code G2A4B2)
Scratch Using blocks to move code around, kids can easily create animated stories, create games, and draw animations.
